Import resources in memoQ (tmx, mqres, csv)

You may have recieved one or several resource files - *.tmx, *.mqres, *.csv - from your project manager.

  • .tmx = translation memory
  • .mqres = different settings for quality assurance, non-translatable lists, auto-translation rules, etc.
  • .csv = termbase

Please follow the steps below to import the resource file into memoQ.


Translation memories, *.tmx

Create a new translation memory under Project home -> Translation memories -> Create/use new.

Enter a name for the new translation memory. OK.

Click on Import From TMX/CSV. Locate the *.tmx from the project manager and click Open and then OK to import the translation memory.

Term bases, *.csv

Create a new term base under Project home -> Settings -> Term bases -> Create/use new.

Enter a name for the new term base. OK.

Click on Import terminology. Locate the *.csv file from the project manager and click Open and then OK to import the term base.


QA settings, *.mqres

KAB_memoQ_QA_v1.mqres is our custom QA settings file. It containts parameters for the QA, for example that the non-translatables are not translated, missing numbers, double spaces etc.

Import the QA settings file under Project home -> Settings -> QA Settings -> Import new.

Make sure you click the checkbox to activate it in your project.


Non-translatable lists, *.mqres

List of words/symbols/special characters which are important not to translate, delete or alter, for example product names, titles, ©, ®, ™, °, unprotected tags, ...

Import this file under Project home -> Settings -> Non-translatable lists -> Import new.

Make sure you click the checkbox to activate it in your project.


Auto-translation rules, *.mqres

Auto-translation rules are used for automatically convert prices, measurements, space or not before units and %, etc.

Import this file under Project home -> Settings -> Auto-translation rules-> Import new.

Make sure you click the checkbox to activate it in your project.
